Uggh, well, I must say it’s hard getting into the swing of things here at the office again. Vacations go so quickly, don’t they? Even though I did pretty much nothing except eat an entire pan of brownies I baked (so much for my resolutions…), the time just flew by.

But I must say, you guys impress me. You were not content to just sit on your butt and catch up on your Tivo-ed episodes of How I Met Your Mother and The Office like a certain editor I know. No! You read our articles. You joined our groups. And you asked questions.

Boy, did you ever.

Well, for all your hard work, I say: Bravo! (Or Brava! I’m not sexist.)

And since the questions were so great, I thought I’d post some of them in case you haven’t seen them on the site yet. If one catches your fancy, answer away and help out your peers.

Thought I’d brighten your day with my favorite glam rocker. Oh, and yeah, you might have noticed some changes on e-BIM. Like, it’s no longer called e-BIM.

That’s right: e-BIM is now the Human Resources iQ.

So what does this mean for you? Well, we still offer lots of articles, interviews, columns and blogs (including your favorite). You can still ask and answer questions. You can still network. But now you can also peruse our media center–listen to some podcasts or view some videos!

What does this mean for me? I’m going to have to order some new business cards.

Anyway, what do you think of our new look? Are you finding the site easy to navigate? Who are some of your favorite glam rockers?

For all of you who thought I was going to say “new articles on e-BIM,” well, you were wrong. I’m not all about the shameless plugs. Just mostly.

We have some great articles and columns for you on Tuesday, as always. But this Thursday all of us at e-BIM will be celebrating Thanksgiving with our families.

Of course, I understand that this is disappointing. But fear not! In between your tryptophan coma and your mall trip for Black Friday deals, you can still enjoy and utilize e-BIM. Now’s a great time to check your messages that you may have had sitting there for awhile. See what your peers are talking about in our groups. Read some articles or interviews that you might have missed. (To get you started, check this out. And this. And this.) Ask some questions–or answer some.

Now, you’re probably saying, “But, Jess, that’s not fair! You work for e-BIM.”

Well, first of all, that’s just mean. I never win anything. How dare you take this away from me!

And, you know what? I think you could give me a run for the money.

You can become a top expert yourself. Every time you read a question from your peers that you know the answer to…answer it! You get a point for each answer you post. And before you know it, you’ll be a top expert–or the top expert.

I better warn you though: I hate to lose.

So, e-BIMers, it’s so on!

So now’s the time to work on the second part of our motto: Solve. That’s right. If you read a question and know the answer, then, by all means, answer it! If you don’t know the answer, but you think your colleagues might, forward it on! (Use that little icon dealie that looks like an arrow.) It’s sort of like that “phone a friend” thing from Who Wants to be a Millionaire, except…um…you don’t win a million dollars.

And if you’re the one who asked the question, you might get a slew of answers. But maybe only one answer is the best. Well, then select that answer as the “top answer.” That way everyone will be able to see that answer.

That’s right. It’s so nice, we’re going to do it twice. Starting this week, we’re making the move from Wednesdays to Tuesdays and Thursdays. Because, really, who wants to wait an entire week for new insights? I certainly don’t.

What’s that? That’s still too long to wait? Well, there’s no reason to only log on on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There’s plenty going on on e-BIM every day! New questions are being posted. Comments are being added. Groups are being made. There’s always something to do on e-BIM.

I know you’re all gunning to start earning some points, but while I have you here, I thought I’d tell you about another great new e-BIM feature. Now members have the ability to import their contacts from e-mail programs such as yahoo, gmail and msn, as well as all their contacts from Linkedin. This is a great way to let all your colleagues know about the e-BIM community and expand your e-BIM network.
