The Economy and e-BIM
October 13, 2008 – 2:54 pmThe future is uncertain.
While this might always be the case, the statement is especially on point–and ominous–in light of today’s economy.
The financial market is in turmoil. We are headed into a recession. The government is stepping in with bailout or “recovery” plans. And historians warn us that our country hasn’t been in this state since the Great Depression. With jobs on the line, no one can afford to misstep. This is certainly the case with HR.
However, when times are bad, people’s true colors shine through. And many of your peers on e-BIM have some useful tips for surviving and thriving during these tough times. For example, you can read an NYU Business School professor’s view on what organizations can do to stay afloat during this financial crisis. You can learn what HR leaders need to succeed during these times. There’s an article on HR’s role in this economy, and many other features aimed to ease your mind and give you tips for job survival. And of course, you can network with any of the e-BIM members and start your own conversations about what concerns you on this subject.
While the future might not be certain, it’s nice to know that some things are: We’re all in this together, and e-BIM members are looking to help.
